"The same people, whom(sic) are beholden to Gary Skoien, have been running your Township. They have been raising your taxes every year that they have been elected, the past 8. The Road District, under Commissioner John Powers has been increasing for the past 12 years. "

Wow; where do we start. First, Commissioner Powers took office four years before Gary Skoien was elected Committeeman. Most of the people who are currently serving in Township Government were elected in 2005 and 2009, both times with the endorsement by Skoien, the Republican Committeeman. They were elected twice but have been adjusting the levy each year, not just the years in which they were elected.
Township taxes have been going up, just a little each year very similar to other inflationary increases. From the following table, taken directly from the tax bill of one of our supporters, you will see the Township of Palatine has been cautious in setting tax rates.
It appears the anger of this one Del Mar supporter is misplaced, even much to do about nothing, with a total increase in 5 years of less then $20.

Who are Gary Skoien's supporters? Among a few they are Supervisor Linda Fleming, Highway Commissioner John Powers, Clerk Lisa Moran, and Senator Matt Murphy.

Yes, and among other elected officials, Township Trustees Bill Huley, Vince Farina, and Art Goes, Township Collector Sue Johnson, and Assessor Terry Kelly. Help us find the tax and spend liberal in this list. Pretty tough.
Sharon should also include a long, long list of other Republicans who have worked with Gary over the last 8 years while he has been Committeeman. Check back closer to the election; we'll publish the list.
Every supporter knows about his dicey divorce (which will likely drag on at least another year) and nearly everyone knows a relative or friend who went through a painful divorce. Except for a salacious article or two in the paper several months ago, the divorce has has no impact on Gary's successful leadership of the Republican Party in Palatine. The December 2009 TOPPER breakfast meeting drew a paid attendance of over 100 people to hear state and local candidates running in the Republican Primary.
